Q-switched Nd:YAG laser at 946 nm based on single crystal fiber pumped at 885 nm

Abstract

We report on a 946 nm Q-switched oscillator based on Nd:YAG single crystal fiber. The gain medium in pumped into the emitting level at 885 nm to reduce the thermal effect in the cavity. In continuous regime, an output power of 28.4 W with a M² under 1.3 and a slope efficiency equals to 30% are reported. In Q-switched regime, a first result with 15W, 375 µJ, 51 ns is discussed.
